In 2016, about 11, 35,943 candidates applied for preliminary exam but only 4,59,659 candidates actually appeared. . These numbers in itself shows the attractiveness towards such service. Many young aspirants are moving towards this due to attraction of serving the nation, power and prestige associated with the job, being in leadership position, getting ample opportunity of problem solving, innovating, etc.

But as it is known as one of the toughest examinations - correct strategy and sensible planning is must to achieve the goal.

Thus GSSCORE is coming up with the two-year programme for Civil Services Preparation for the students who are at graduation level or planning to start preparation but due to job not able to give full time to that.

It has been designed in such a way to guide aspirant for civil services examination step by step from basic to advance.


  • It covers entire General Study syllabus for Prelims and Main examination.
  • During first year of preparation focus will be on conceptual part of the entire syllabus.
  • In the second year focus will entire on revision and practice.
  • Current affairs’ will be a continuous process till third year of programme.

Programme Structure

Phase 1: Concept Building (Year 2017-18)

The Civil Services Preparation needs to be start by building a strong foundation. Without conceptual clarity understanding of contemporary issues becomes difficult. Thus in the first year complete classes will be concentrated on concept building.

Total duration: 7 months in 1st year.

  • Comprehensive class to cover GS Prelims, GS Mains Paper 1, 2, 3, 4 and Essay.
  • Q & A session after every class.
  • Home Assignments
  • Answer writing session

Phase 2: Practice Session (Year 2018-19)

The Formula for success is simple: Practice and concentration then more Practice and more concentration.

Thus in the second year after preparing the basic foundation, main concentration will be on Test Practice & Revision through detailed test discussion.

Prelims Tests + Detailed Discussion

Programme is divided as:

  • Sub-sectional Tests: Under this each subject will be divided in sub-topics to bring more depth in preparation.
  • Sectional Tests: Under this each subject mentioned in the UPSC syllabus will be catered.
  • Current Affairs: Month-wise current affairs tests will be conducted.
  • Mock Tests: Mock tests will be conducted on the line of UPSC pattern consist of Paper 1 and Paper 2.

Mains Tests + Detailed Discussion for Revision

Programme is divided as:

  • Conceptual Tests: Under this paper will be conducted topic-wise. Each test will consist of 20 questions, designed to check the conceptual clarity of the aspirant.
  • Contemporary Tests: Under this paper will be designed purely on the contemporary issues, consisting of 20 questions. It will check the analytical ability of the aspirant. The Questions will cover the Contemporary issues of past one year.
  • Mock Tests: Mock tests will be conducted on the line of UPSC pattern consist of Paper 1, Paper 2, Paper 3 and Paper 4.

Essay Answer Writing Sessions

In the UPSC Mains examination, a student has to write two essays within a three hours time. This requires better understanding of the dimensions to be included and structure to maintain the articulation and objectivity in the essay.

Programme is divided as:

  • Topical Tests of Essay Writing
  • Mock Tests

Essay Practice Workbook containing Model Essay

We will provide sample essays to make you understand how to place different dimensions in the essay without the breakage of flow.

The format of essay is divided as:

  • Approach: The complete theme of the essay, reading this will help you understanding the different dimensions related to the essay in one paragraph.
  • Introduction: The principle purpose of the introduction is to present one’s position on the issue at hand to the examiner.
  • Main Body: It includes the complete analysis part, arguments – counter arguments, etc. each paragraph should be connected and define different dimension.
  • Conclusion: Finally it includes the summary of the essay with your position related to the topic. It can be in favour or against or balanced.

Elaborate Test Discussion

Discussion classes will be designed in such a way that they can provide value addition on the other related topics of the respective test. It also includes answer writing approach for every paper.

Phase 3: Current Affairs Updation Class

Current affairs have become an important part of Civil services Preparation. Though the direct questions related to it in Prelims and Mains are less but indirectly it cover – economics, geography, science and technology, environment, governance, etc. Thus making a proper strategy to cover it multi-dimensionally is a must.

We will provide the Current affairs updation class for both Prelims and Mains

  • 20 days separate Prelims current affairs classes before prelims that will cover current affairs of past one year.
  • 100 hrs. Mains updation classes after prelims that will cover contemporary issues of last two years as range of topics in examination have increased.

Phase 4: Revision and Mock Tests

This will be the final phase of your preparation. After giving Prelims Examination, Mock tests will be provided with model hints and supplementary notes for practice and revision. It will cover 8 Mock Tests before Mains Examination (two tests in each GS paper).

4 Level Study Material

We will provide complete study material (Prelims cum Mains). We believe that the classroom learning is incomplete without material and vice versa. The study material will be divided as:

  • Level 1: Basic syllabus.
  • Level 2: Contemporary issues related to every section of syllabus.
  • Level 3: Fortnight Current Affairs study material.
  • Level 4: Answer writing practice workbook for each section.

Procedure for Online Class

  • Students will be given user ID & password to access the live online classes.
  • Account for live online classes will be activated within two days of enrollment.
  • Classes will be conducted live as per the class schedule at our Delhi Center.
  • In case you miss live class at the scheduled time, recorded video of the class will be available in your account just after the class is over.
  • Lectures can be accessed thrice online i.e either (1 live session + 2 recorded) or three times recorded video.
  • Study material will be dispatched by courier within a week of enrollment.
  • Lectures will be active in your account till your mains exam.
  • Tests will be uploaded in PDF format in your account.
