- Re-evaluating local competencies and up-skilling the population can lead to innovative designs and industries that capitalize on traditional skills while preserving heritage.
- Significance: for economic and cultural development, there must be steps to revitalize India's electoral system, promote inclusive governance, and harness the country's potential.
Present challenges:
- Increasing ideological divisions: Among political parties and their supporters, constructive debates often take a backseat to grandstanding, leading to policy gridlocks.
- Diverting from original spirit: The spirit of consensus building gets undermined, and potential areas of convergence are side-lined.
- Lack of Trust: Corruption in governance and personal values erode trust in institutions.
Steps to be followed:
- Enhance the electoral system: There is a need for people's participation and plural growth to ensure ethical representation.
- Empowering the public: to hold representatives accountable and establishing systems of checks and balances for consistent performance are crucial aspects to be addressed.
- More robust grievance redressal mechanism: exploring direct interventions through referendums, workshops, and other means can empower citizen.
