Medha Anand: A Journey of Perseverance and Excellence

Medha Anand, hailing from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, secured AIR 13 in the UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2023. Her success story is a testament to perseverance, hard work, and focused guidance. A civil engineering graduate from Harcourt Butler Technical University (HBTU), Kanpur, Medha had already secured a rank of 311 in her second attempt in 2019, joining the Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS). Despite several challenges in subsequent attempts, she remained determined to achieve her ultimate goal: the Indian Administrative Service (IAS).

Medha credits much of her success in 2023 to the guidance and mentorship she received during her UPSC preparation, particularly under the constant support of Manoj K. Jha Sir at GS SCORE. In one of her interviews, Medha fondly recalled how Manoj K Jha Sir motivated her to give another attempt after she narrowly missed her goal in previous years. His encouragement played a crucial role in her decision to prepare for one more year, which eventually resulted in her outstanding rank.

Medha’s performance in the General Studies (GS) papers stood out as well. She scored an impressive 141 marks in GS Paper 4 (Ethics, Integrity, and Aptitude) and 131 marks in GS Paper 2). Her strength in Ethics (GS Paper 4) was particularly noteworthy, showcasing her ability to combine analytical thinking with practical examples, a skill she developed through her rigorous preparation in GS SCORE’s Mains Program.  Medha's overall score was 1040, a testament to her strong preparation strategy. She emphasized mastering the syllabus, practicing mock tests, and regular answer writing. She diligently kept up with current affairs and refined her skills with continuous self-assessment

Throughout her preparation, Medha maintained discipline in answer writing, revising concepts, and taking mock tests regularly. She also focused on honing her essay-writing skills and ensuring clarity in presenting her ideas concisely. Medha’s journey reflects resilience, dedication, and the importance of mentorship. Her success story inspires aspirants to persevere through challenges, trust in the process, and continue working towards their dreams, no matter how long the journey might take.
