Gist of Report: Designing The Future of Dispute Resolution: The ODR Policy For India

DESIGNING THE FUTURE OF DISPUTE RESOLUTION: THE ODR POLICY PLAN FOR INDIA  is a report published by NITI AAYOG.

Traditionally, dispute resolution has always been associated with a place i.e. courts. The advent of ADR has helped alter this conception, to an extent. However, communication during these dispute resolution processes – both verbal and non-verbal continues to require the physical presence of parties.
Since ODR is still in its nascent stages of development in India, it is important that the governance framework encourages the growth of innovation both within the Government and in the private sector. To enable this, a balance has to be struck between protecting the rights and interests of its users while ensuring that over-regulation does not stifle innovation.
