Inauguration of first private sector manufacturing facility in Lucknow
Context:
Raksha Mantri recently inaugurated the first operationalized private sector defence manufacturing facility in Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor (UPDIC) in Lucknow.
- Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor (UP DIC) is an aspirational project that intends to reduce the foreign dependency of the Indian Aerospace & Defence Sector.
- The Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) was made the nodal agency to execute this project in conjunction with various other state agencies.
- This Corridor aims to bring up the state as one of the largest & advanced Defence manufacturing hubs and put it on the world map.
- First private sector defence manufacturing facility
- The facility is run by Aerolloy Technologies, a wholly-owned subsidiary of PTC industries.
- It will manufacture parts for Aircraft Engines, Helicopter Engines, Structural parts for aircraft, Drones and UAVs, Submarines, Ultra-Light Artillery Guns, Space Launch Vehicles and Strategy Systems etc.
