For India to sustain growth rate of 8-10 per cent for the next decades, it requires a strong MSME sector. This would be realised by the growth of the new wave MSME led by entrepreneurship focused on innovation and technologies, creating opportunities for women entrepreneurs, and developing skilled resource. Issues related to credit, like adequacy, timely availability, cost and mortgages continue to be concern for MSME. The government could consider dedicating specialized financial schemes for addressing difficulties in assessing and providing credit to firms which are under financial stress.
