Allahabad High Court Judge to be Impeached
"Chief Justice of India (CJI) Dipak Misra has recommended the
impeachment of Justice Shri Narayan Shukla, the eighth seniormost
judge of the Allahabad High Court, following an adverse
report about him by an in-house panel set up by the CJI.
Justice Shukla joined the Allahabad High Court in 2005 and was
set to retire on July 17, 2020.
His orders in the cases of blacklisted private medical colleges in
Lucknow had come under the scanner of the CJI Bench last year.
He was accused of misconduct in the medical admissions scam. "

Procedure of High Court Judge Appointment
1. Clause (1) of Article 217 says that “every judge of a
High Court shall be appointed by the President, by
warrant under his hand and seal after consultation
with the Chief Justice of India, the Governor of the
State, and, in the case of appointment of a Judge
other than the Chief Justice, the Chief Justice of
the High Court and shall hold offi ce, in the case
of an additional or acting judge, as provided in
Article 224, and in any other case, until he attains
the age of sixty-two years”.
