This article discusses the critical role that India can play in the prevailing multi-polar world which is gradually becoming a cooperative networked system.

An archaic notion

Idea of world Leadership: Presently, it is more of an amalgamation of growth: in the economy, nuclear capabilities, demographics, and military strength, all translating into its ‘soft Power’.
A Paradox: Many of us speak about India as a great power of the 21^st century, but at the same time we are not yet able to feed, educate and employ all our people.
New forms of Leadership: It is a transformation of the terms of global exchange and the way countries adapt to the new international, interlinked landscape. It has to be more participatory.
