Recently, scientists have unraveled the mystery behind Odisha’s ‘Black Tigers’ in Similipal Tiger Reserve.

The team has found that the entire distinctive coloration in the black tigers is due to one mutation in the gene called Transmembrane Aminopeptidase Q or Taqpep.
