Rotary International World Convention
Context
The Prime Minister addressed the Rotary International World Convention via a video message.
Rotary International World Convention:
- Rotary is a global network of 1.4 million neighbors, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers.
- It aims to create a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change across the globe.
- On 15 August 1910, Paul Harris convened the first Rotary convention.
- Rotary members believe that everyone has a shared responsibility to take action on our world’s most persistent issues. Members work together to:
- Promote peace
- Fight disease
- Provide clean water, sanitation, and hygiene
- Save mothers and children
- Support education
- Grow local economies
- Protect the environment
- Mission: To provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through our fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders.
- Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: As a global network that strives to build a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change, Rotary values diversity and celebrates the contributions of people of all backgrounds, regardless of their age, ethnicity, race, color, abilities, religion, socioeconomic status, culture, sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity.
Rotary International World Convention 2022:
- In 2022, Houston, Texas — a space activity hub for more than half a century — will welcome approximately 28,000 global attendees from around the world.
- The Convention is a place where leaders gather to celebrate, collaborate, and connect while making meaningful memories with friends and family members.
- The Rotary International Convention is an opportunity to engage with tens of thousands of leaders from public and private sectors, who take action and create lasting change around the world.
