The Indian healthcare sector is growing at a brisk pace due to its strengthening coverage, services, and increasing expenditure by public as well private players. This sector is expected to increase further due to rising income, better healthcare awareness, lifestyle diseases, and increasing access to insurance. The health sector becomes significant with the point of catering to the health needs of a high ‘Demographic Dividend.  The constant growth of the healthcare industry needs government interventions and initiatives to have better health indices and sustainable development.

The questions related to government initiatives and schemes related to healthcare are also asked by UPSC almost every year in Prelims or Main Examination. These questions could be based on any of the aspects of any initiative. To facilitate the examination-related needs of the aspirants, the GS SCORE released, ‘Good Practice – Health Initiative’. It comprises the schemes and initiatives of the Indian government to support the healthcare sector which is discussed with every possible dimension.
