Good Practices: Renewable Energy Promotion

The dual fact of finite resources of fossil fuel based energy and fast changing climate is making the governments at national and international level to take initiatives which are environment friendly and sustainable in nature. The idea of equity based sharing of resources in addition to the consideration of future generation is driving countries to cooperate and adopt renewable energy sources so that the available resources do not get depleted beyond the carrying capacity of nature. To this end, the Indian government has also taken initiatives to fulfill its commitment under the 'Nationally Determined Contributions' and other international climate conservation obligations of which India is a party.

To this end, GS SCORE has compiled important initiatives related to the renewable energy promotion under its 'Good Practice' Series. The present document will help aspirants to understand India's commitment towards the promotion of its renewable energy resources and to be a significant partner of Greening the Planet. All the initiatives discussed under this document are covered in a multidimensional way that will help aspirants to prepare for 'Prelims' and 'Mains' both.
